The vision of Operation No Food Gap is to ensure access to fresh produce for those in underserved communities and create systems of sustainable agriculture.
Operation No Food Gap is a transformative approach to addressing food insecurity in Palm Beach County.
We have a 7-Step Solution...
Step 1: FEED THE PEOPLE
We feed the people. We make sure everyone has access to nutritious food, including those in impoverished and marginalized groups throughout our communities.
Step 2: EVALUATE FOOD AND NUTRITION NEEDS
Here, the challenge was exposed due to COVID-19. Sure, food was being disbursed, but at what cost? The cost will be accepted in the payment of poor health. We do not simply feed the people, we feed people living, nutritious food!
Step 3: TEACH THE PEOPLE TO FISH
Our urban agriculture plan inspires individuals to be self-sufficient take ownership of their health, connect with their food, and share this knowledge with their children and others to help break the cycle of food insecurity.
Step 4: ONFG FRESH MARKETS & Pop-up FARMERS MARKETS
Food access is influenced by diverse factors, including proximity to food, individual and neighborhood resources, as well as race/ethnicity, socioeconomic status, geography, disabilities and more. The ONFG Mobile Food Pantry is SNAP, EBT and FAB approved to help increase the buying power for those utilizing these benefits.
Step 5: FARMACY RX
ONFG has partnered with The American Heart Association to administer our Food-as-Medicine Program. We work with clinicians and patients to utilize a combination of foods that offer strong medicinal and protective qualities to aid in correcting negative health diagnoses.
Step 6: TRANSFORM FOOD WASTE
Recycling and sustainable management of food is a priority. Most food given out in COVID relief boxes is under utilized because of several issues, barriers. Seniors in underserved communities generally have a difficult time accessing food resources and turning raw foods/goods into prepared meals. ONFG has partnered with Trindy Gourmet and other local chefs to transform the boxes into prepared meals, accessible and ready to be consumed by those most in need.
Step 7: DELIVER PREPARED MEALS AND FRESH FOOD
The ONFG Mobile Food Pantry allows us to deliver meals and fresh foods to those who can not get out to the farms and gardens throughout the community.
